Paul Wolvekamp joined Both ENDS in 1989 and is currently Deputy Director. He is also vice-chairman of the Asia based 'NFTP Exchange Program', chairman of the 'Forest People Program' and chaired the Dispute Settlement Facility Working Group of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm oil (RSPO). He is member of the supervisory board of the Dutch Committee of IUCN. He is editor and co-author of various publications, amongst which ‘Same platform, different train: pluralism, participation and power’ (1997), 'Forest for the Future' (1999) and ‘Purposes and uses of a commonly structured Dispute Settlement Facility’ (2010).
Paul obtained his bachelor's degree in law from Leyden University, graduated in political sciences and then focused on environmental sciences. In association with the Indian Institute of Management he conducted action research in the field of local natural resources management and the Karnataka State forest service.
He worked on various assignments for the Dutch government and the European Commission, in a wide range of areas, such as the development of an Indo-Dutch Environmental NGO Fund, evaluating the European Commission’s contribution to dry land management, 'The Netherlands: Sustainable Distributive Country', the 'Africa Regreening Initiative' and partnerships with companies in organic tea and spices and palm oil.
